Tirupati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu suddenly stopped his convoy when he spotted a roadside palm fruit vendor in Kuppam on Wednesday. Along with his wife Bhuvaneswari, he walked to the vendor to relish the fresh “tati munjalu,” a seasonal delicacy that people widely enjoy during summer.

For the sellers, who had been catering to motorists and locals through the afternoon, the visit turned into an unusual moment. People gathered around the stall and recorded the vendor’s interaction with the Chief Minister on their mobile phones.

Known for its cooling properties and high water content, tati munjalu has long been associated with village life and traditional food culture. The soft and mildly sweet fruit is commonly sold at temporary roadside stalls during the season. It continues to remain popular in many rural areas.

Sharing his experience on social media platform X, Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the purity and natural quality of the traditional rural food. “There is no adulteration, no carbide, and no pesticide contamination. It feels refreshing to stop by the roadside and eat these cool and pure tati munjalu, which are as clean-hearted as the people of Kuppam. What can surpass our traditional rural food products?,” Naidu asked.

The CM paid the vendor for the fruit before leaving for his scheduled programmes.

Videos and photographs of the Chief Minister and his wife enjoying the seasonal fruit have gone viral on social media.
