CM Naidu Orders Steps to Curb El Niño-Driven Price Rise

Chandrababu Naidu directs officials to monitor essential commodity prices, boost onion supplies and accelerate rooftop solar installations across Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to closely monitor the prices of essential commodities and take effective measures to prevent any unjustifiable increase by traders in the name of El Nino.

During a review meeting he held on Wednesday at the Real Time Governance Society, the Chief Minister stressed the need to keep the prices of essentials like rice, red gram, onions, edible oils and sugar under control.

Naidu reviewed the sale of rice supplied by the government through Rythu Bazaars and asked officials to explore the possibility of making fine-quality rice available at affordable prices during festivals such as Diwali and Sankranti. He also directed them to increase onion supplies to ensure that consumers do not face inconvenience.

The CM emphasised the need for stringent measures to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across AP. Reviewing the progress of the PM Surya Ghar scheme, he called for expediting rooftop solar panel installations and improving the scheme's implementation.

Noting that the state currently ranks fourth nationally in the scheme, he directed officials to intensify efforts to improve its position. With another nine lakh connections required to achieve the target, he called for a time-bound action plan to complete the installations at the earliest.

The CM also instructed officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of sand and prevent disruptions. He stressed the importance of making full use of technology in governance, identifying shortcomings promptly and taking corrective measures.

Naidu called for better coordination among government departments to improve the implementation of various programmes. Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and other senior officials attended the meeting.
