CM Naidu Justifies Plan To Acquire More Land For Amravati
The CM also promised them to initiate a programme to grant land title to those residing without it in the Gramakantam areas within the capital region.

Vijayawada:Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has justified the state government’s plan to acquire more land for developing Amaravati into a large capital city.
“Land acquisition will be done based on need but by also keeping the interests of the farmers in mind,” he said in an interaction with agricultural landowners from the capital region at his Vundavalli residence on Monday.
Naidu invited them to attend the inauguration of the work resumption for the capital city at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Amaravati on May 2. He thanked the farmers for sacrificing their lands and said the people would remember their goodwill gesture for long. He urged them to play an active role in the development of Amaravati.
The CM promised the farmers that the government would help them get bank loans for the returnable plots allotted to them.
Maintaining that PM Modi would visit Amaravati to inaugurate resumption of works on May 2, he asked the people from every house and from every village to attend the meeting.
Naidu explained to the farmers the proposal to acquire more land. He said, “When the land acquisition was carried out for construction of the Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad, nearly 5,000 acres were taken and many questioned about the need for acquiring so much land for an airport.”
“Because of foresight in land acquisition, an international airport was built and big hotels, malls and a huge economic activity started in the area, resulting in a rise in the land value which in turn benefited the farmers,” he said.
Naidu said additional land would be needed for construction of the international airport and a cricket stadium. Several bridges would be constructed across the Krishna river while inner and outer ring roads would be developed in addition to having more connectivity to other regions.
This, he said, would result in expansion of the capital by attracting big companies and huge investments. He exhorted the farmers not to be apprehensive about fall in land prices.
“Nothing will happen against your interests.”
The farmers requested the CM to set up a memorial to honour those who lost their lives in the capital movement. He nodded in agreement and said the government would develop a museum with details about the Satavahana period.
The CM also promised them to initiate a programme to grant land title to those residing without it in the Gramakantam areas within the capital region.
