CM Naidu Cracks Whip on Officials for Delay at Cabinet Meeting

The CM asked whether proper note was taken on the revised schedule and priority for the discussions. The special CS informed him that all officers had been duly alerted.

Vijayawada: Expressing strong displeasure over the delayed arrival of senior officials for a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed special chief secretary K. Vijayanand to seek explanations from these officers and initiate disciplinary action.

The Cabinet meeting held at the secretariat saw the CM reviewing agenda items with ministers and senior officials. Discussions were also held on governance, administrative efficiency and fuel conservation.

According to officials, Naidu got upset as several officers concerned with the fuel conservation agenda were absent when the matter was taken up for discussion. Sources said he had asked the special chief secretary on Wednesday night to place the fuel conservation issue as the first item on the agenda.

The CM asked whether proper note was taken on the revised schedule and priority for the discussions. The special CS informed him that all officers had been duly alerted.

Naidu objected to the lack of punctuality and accountability among senior officials. Negligence in attending important government meetings, particularly those linked to priority governance issues, would not be tolerated.

He asked top officials to immediately obtain written explanations from the officers who arrived late or failed to attend the meeting on time and to initiate appropriate disciplinary measures.

Emphasising the need for professionalism in governance, Naidu said officials must attach the highest importance to cabinet-related discussions and review meetings. He underscored that effective time management, coordination and accountability were essential for improving administrative efficiency and ensuring swift implementation of government priorities.
