CM Naidu Asks Officials to Put People First, Deliver Results With Speed

Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday called upon officials to adopt a people-friendly approach, take decisions with speed and accountability and focus on measurable results in public service.

He urged collectors to combine technology with a human touch to win public confidence.

Addressing the concluding session of the two-day collectors’ conference in Amaravati, Naidu stressed teamwork and leadership, warning that problems ignored or pushed aside would only become more complicated. He said the government had faced several challenges in the past 27 months but was implementing changes in welfare, development and governance.

Naidu said the state’s growth rate at current prices was estimated at 13.44 per cent, while GST collections had grown 18 per cent, with GSDP growth estimates remaining above the national average.

He appreciated officials’ cooperation and said Rayalaseema was gaining momentum under the rising initiative, North Andhra had received a fresh development push with the Bhogapuram airport, and completion of the Veligonda project had opened new opportunities in the erstwhile Prakasam district.

Improved connectivity through the Seed Access Road would help Amaravati emerge as a well-planned and highly liveable city, he said.

Naidu highlighted district-level best practices that could be replicated statewide, including the drone initiative in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, sports schools in Anantapur, Swarna Bhavitha schools in Bapatla, digital learning in Chittoor, PMDS-based measures in Kurnool to mitigate El Niño’s crop impact, Waste-to-Wealth in Prakasam and biochar initiatives in Sri Sathya Sai district.

Sports schools, he said, could identify talent capable of representing India at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

Stressing that leadership was crucial to bringing change, he asked officials to encourage capable personnel and upgrade their skills continuously. While the government was responsible for signing investment proposals, collectors must ensure their grounding. “Expedite land allotments for approved industries, asserting that development should not suffer due to the negligence of a few officials. Industries, services and agriculture would jointly drive GSDP growth,” he said.

El Nino: Expressing concern over deficient rainfall caused by severe El Niño conditions, Naidu called for a comprehensive action plan, prioritising drinking water, livestock water and fodder. Drought, he warned, could reduce production, fuel inflation and push up prices. He asked the government and collectors to work jointly and complete the 36 priority irrigation projects within the stipulated construction calendar.

On law and order, Naidu said there would be no political pressure and warned of stringent action against offenders, including those involved in ganja, drugs and atrocities against women and girls.

People first: The CM told the police to remain people-friendly and not inconvenience citizens for his movements. He said traffic should not be stopped 15 minutes in advance for his convoy and noted that he had reduced its size.

Naidu sought respect for elected representatives while adhering strictly to law, greater public participation in development and firm action against those obstructing projects. He cited transparent DSC examinations despite about 350 petitions, resolution of long-pending cases enabling police constable recruitment and the high court-ordered SIT probe into allegations concerning Group-I examinations.

Legacy waste: The CM said the government had removed 1.53 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste over two years and was addressing long-pending land disputes.

DA and surrender leave benefits were also being released to employees and police personnel. Every decision, he stressed, must be speedy, error-free and humane, with leadership at the core of technology-driven new-age governance.
