Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore as compensation to the bereaved family of excise head constable Pitcheshwara Rao, who died in a mishap while on duty.
The cheque was presented at a programme held here and the compensation was sanctioned under the SBI insurance scheme, implemented as part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and the State Bank of India in March 2025.
Expressing deep condolences to the family, the Chief Minister assured them of all possible support from the government. He also announced that a compassionate appointment would be provided to an eligible family member.
