CM Hails Ongole’s 150-Year Journey, Calls for Preservation of City’s Heritage
CM highlights Ongole’s heritage, historic milestones and iconic cattle breed
Nellore: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday extended his greetings to the people of Ongole on the completion of 150 years of the city’s municipal journey and recalled its historic legacy and contributions to the state.
In a social media post, Naidu said Ongole was established as a municipality on Sept 30, 1876, and it had grown from a modest beginning to a major urban centre. He said the city had witnessed several historic milestones and played an important role in the region’s development.
The CM highlighted the identity of the Ongole cattle breed, describing it as a symbol of the city’s pride and heritage. He said the breed’s distinct characteristics should be preserved and promoted for future generations.
Naidu said the city’s past should serve as inspiration for building a better future and extended his greetings to public representatives, officials, youth and citizens participating in the 150th anniversary celebrations.
The three-day celebrations from Sept 28 to 30 have featured cultural and heritage programmes as part of the “Mana Ongole – Mana Gouravam” theme.
