Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu inaugurated a set of ‘hop-on, hop-off’ electric double-decker tourist buses along the scenic Beach Road here on Friday.
Marking the launch, Naidu joined public representatives for a ride on a luxury bus. These buses would run between RK Beach and Thotlakonda, covering a 16-km stretch that showcases the city’s coastal charms.
While greeting tourists from the bus, Naidu said this initiative adds an exciting new dimension to Visakhapatnam’s tourism circuits. Tailored for visitors, the buses operate on a 24-hour ticket system priced at Rs 500, with the government subsidising half the fare. Tourists can enjoy unlimited travel for just Rs 250 for a full day.
Naidu encouraged both citizens and visitors to adopt eco-friendly habits and help maintain the cleanliness of coastal areas. He called for collective efforts to elevate Visakhapatnam’s beaches to global standards.
During the event, the chief minister referred to previous political promises and pointed out that the YSRC party’s declarations to make Visakhapatnam the capital had not been fulfilled. He criticised the YSRC government for poor road conditions and reaffirmed his commitment to improving the state’s road infrastructure.
Highlighting the city’s growing significance, the CM claimed that Visakhapatnam was emerging as Asia’s financial and technology hub. He unveiled plans for a major data centre and an undersea cable project that would connect the city globally, strengthening its role in India’s digital future.
