CM Call to Develop Krishna Riverfront in Amaravati into Marina Waterfront
The Chief Minister asked officials to ensure that all capital construction works are completed within the stipulated timelines

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to transform the Krishna riverfront in the capital region into a vibrant Marina Waterfront, aimed at giving Amaravati a major tourism and leisure push.
The CM’s proposal won approval at the 57th meeting of the capital region development authority chaired by Naidu.
Tenders would be floated under the PPP mode for development of jetties, leisure and tourism boats, food plazas and extensive landscaping.
Naidu asked officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan, integrating riverfront development with water sports and recreation facilities. The project, he said, should align with the vision of developing Amaravati as a “blue-green city,” with construction and beautification of internal canals forming a key component.
Naidu noted that the proposed new barrage upstream of the Prakasam would strengthen water resources for the capital. He also suggested exploring the tourism potential of islands in the Krishna river and developing scenic waterfronts on both banks.
In a significant decision, the authority approved the extension of pensions currently provided to landless poor under the land pooling scheme to orphaned minors in the capital region. Children who have lost both parents will receive a monthly pension of `5,000.
The meeting also ratified 754 posts across various cadres in the CRDA.
Approval was granted for the alternative allotment of returnable plots to farmers in place of 112 plots affected by road alignments. This facility will apply only to plots that have not been mutated or sold to third parties.
The CM emphasized that farmers should not face any inconvenience during the process.
Calling for financial strengthening of the Amaravati development forporation (ADCL) and CRDA, Naidu asked officials to study sustainable revenue models and asset monetisation strategies. He suggested examining the Qatar model for developing large-scale projects such as a sports ccty in Amaravati.
The Chief Minister asked officials to ensure that all capital construction works are completed within the stipulated timelines. Ministers, including P Narayana, chief secretary K Vijayanand and senior officials from the municipal, CRDA and finance departments attended the meeting.
