CM Naidu Asks Alliance leaders To Win All ZPTC, MPTC Seats

The Chief Minister attributed the loss of some seats to coordination gaps at the local level: ReportsVIJAYAWADA

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked leaders and cadres of the ruling alliance to work in coordination and unity to secure all Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats in the rural local body elections.

Addressing a teleconference with leaders and workers of the alliance parties, Naidu said the alliance should perform better in the ZPTC and MPTC elections than it had in the recent urban local body polls. Minister Nadendla Manohar, Telugu Desam state president Palla Srinivasa Rao and BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav participated in the interaction.

Congratulating alliance leaders and cadres on their performance in the municipal and corporation elections, Naidu said the coalition had achieved a 94 per cent strike rate. He said the results reflected public recognition of the government's two-and-a-half years of welfare, development and governance.

"Good governance and good politics are the policies of the alliance government. When we do good for people, they recognise it and stand by us," he said, adding that the electorate had encouraged the government to improve administration.

Naidu said the victories in municipalities and corporations had increased the alliance's responsibility to serve people more effectively. Despite the state's financial difficulties, the government was continuing welfare programmes alongside development activities. It was also filling vacancies in various departments through the job calendar, including teacher recruitment through the DSC, he noted.

He said the government was working closely with people and responding to public opinion, which had helped the alliance achieve electoral success.

The Chief Minister attributed the loss of some seats to coordination gaps at the local level. He said rebel candidates belonging to alliance parties had won in some places where the official alliance candidates had lost.

“Alliance partners must respect one another and treat candidates of every constituent party as their own. Differences may arise within families, parties and organisations, but once a decision is taken, everyone has to abide by it and uphold coalition dharma,” he ruled.

Naidu assured leaders who had aspired for seats but could not secure nominations that they would be given opportunities through nominated posts. However, he warned that those who violated alliance principles could be kept aside.

The CM urged cadres to exercise restraint. He alleged that the YSRC was encouraging violence and attempting to malign the alliance government to remain politically relevant, anticipating defeat. He said voters had once again taught the opposition party a lesson, claiming that its leaders had failed to win even in their own polling booths.
