CM Announces Stipend Hike For Trainee Constables

The announcement drew wild cheers from the gathering: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced a steep hike in the stipend for trainee police constables-- from ₹4,500 to ₹12,500 per month.

The announcement was made on the dais after the Chief Minister consulted Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and DGP Harish Gupta during an appointment letter distribution programme styled as Yuvagalam, at the Mangalagiri APSP Battalion Parade Ground.

The announcement drew wild cheers from the gathering.

Addressing the new constables, Naidu said the state government has fulfilled its promise of providing jobs to the youth. He recalled that the pending court cases, which had stalled recruitments for four years, were resolved after the present government came to power, enabling the issuance of appointment letters.

He said the recruits would join duty immediately after completing their training.

The Chief Minister said a total of 23,676 police jobs were provided during his repeated tenures as CM, including 25,000 appointments to a total police strength of 75,000. The government, he said, remained committed to its manifesto promise of providing 20 lakh jobs. Under Mega DSC, 15,591 posts were filled, while 5,757 constables were recruited in the latest drive. Overall, four lakh jobs were generated across departments.

Highlighting the state’s economic growth, Naidu said approvals were granted for investments worth ₹8.5 lakh crore. As many as 538 MoUs signed in Visakhapatnam would bring investments of ₹11.38 lakh crore, while 735 industries with proposed investments of ₹19 lakh crore were on their way to the state.

Naidu said, “Despite 31 writ petitions filed to stall appointments, the government completed the process in record time with full transparency, using digital meters and technology, without a single rupee of corruption.”

Calling upon the new recruits to be fully focused on duty, the CM stressed strict action against cybercrime, drugs and crimes against women. The government would not compromise on law and order, he said.

Praising home minister V. Anitha for running the department efficiently, he said, “If there is peace, investments will come and development will follow.”

He said effective leadership returned to the police system after 2024, noting that factionalism in Rayalaseema and communal tensions in Hyderabad were curbed earlier under his leadership.

Naidu advocated “visible policing with invisible intelligence” and urged the adoption of PPP models in policing.

He warned that political rowdies and organised crime would not be tolerated, citing past instances where criminals attempted to pin cases on him. He said crime rates had fallen significantly under the present government and reiterated zero tolerance for ganja, rowdyism and crimes against women.

The Chief Minister said CCTV surveillance, proactive policing and speedy investigations were essential as crime patterns were changing.

“No party, including ours, will be spared if crimes are committed. The state and people’s safety come first,” he asserted.

Congratulating the newly appointed constables, Naidu called upon them to serve with dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to law and order.
