Clean Chit To CM Chandrababu Naidu In AP Skill Development Scam Case

The investigating agency found no involvement of the Chief Minister and accordingly filed a memo in the court, which was accepted by the judicial officer.

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) has given a clean chit to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the AP Skill Development case, with the ACB court accepting the agency’s closure report and closing the case, terming it a “mistake of fact”.

In its report submitted to the court, the CID said it intended to close the case against Naidu, stating that the registration of the FIR itself was based on a mistake of fact. The ACB court heard the matter on Monday and ordered the closure of the case against the Chief Minister and 36 other accused.
The court observed that there was no evidence to establish the occurrence of any crime and noted that the CID had carried out a proper investigation.
During the hearing, former AP Skill Development Corporation chairman K. Ajay Reddy filed a petition opposing the closure report and sought permission to present arguments. However, CID senior counsel Unnam Muralidhara Rao and others opposed the plea, contending that only the Managing Director of the corporation was authorised to represent the body in court, not the former chairman.
The court accepted the CID’s arguments and proceeded with the closure.
It may be recalled that the AP CID had earlier named TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu as the principal conspirator in the alleged ₹371 crore AP Skill Development scam, accusing him and others of misappropriating funds. Naidu was listed as Accused No. 37 in the case.
