VISAKHAPATNAM: Municipal administration minister P. Narayana said development works worth Rs 3,531.47 crore had been launched for the GVMC and VMRDA, with a target to complete them in 18 months.
Speaking in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, Narayana said the works would focus on drinking water supply, drainage, roads and other civic infrastructure. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had virtually laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 11,360 crore across 123 municipalities in 26 districts from Kuppam.

The minister said the government was giving special attention to solid and liquid waste management and housing. Of the 2.21 lakh Tisco houses whose construction had stalled, Rs 4,500 crore had been allocated for completion, with a target of completing 95 per cent of the works by December. Schools, anganwadi centres and hospitals would also be developed in Tidco colonies.
Local MLAs P.V.G.R. Naidu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, collector M. Abhishikt Kishore and GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg were present.
