Christ Jubilee 2025 Ends on a Grand Note in Vijayawada

Church leaders describing the event as a landmark in the spiritual life of the Catholic community

Vijayawada: The Jesus Christ Birth Jubilee 2025 celebrations concluded on a solemn and grand note at St Paul’s Cathedral here on Sunday evening, with Church leaders describing the event as a landmark in the spiritual life of the Catholic community.

Bishop Telagatoti Joseph Raja Rao of the Vijayawada Catholic Diocese said the Jubilee would stand as a historic milestone for the global Catholic Church. He recalled that the late Pope Francis had proclaimed 2025 as a Jubilee Year to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, with an emphasis on renewing faith, promoting peace and fostering unity among believers.

Citing a Vatican announcement, Bishop Raja Rao said Pope Leo XIV had directed Catholic dioceses across the world to observe uniform closing celebrations on December 28 to strengthen solidarity and confidence within the Church.

Monsignor Rev. Fr. Muvvala Prasad, parish priest of St Paul’s Cathedral, underscored the vital role of youth in shaping the future of the Telugu Catholic Church and urged them to move forward with unity and commitment in their spiritual lives.

Vicar General Rev. Fr. M. Gabriel recalled that the Jubilee celebrations began on November 8 at Andhra Loyola College, bringing together six Catholic dioceses under the Visakhapatnam Archdiocese in a rare display of unity.
