Children’s Park In Nellore To Get Adventure Facilities In Major Revamp

NELLORE: The Children’s Park in Nellore Rural will be upgraded with modern recreational and adventure facilities, including a sky drive, zip line and cycling track, with the works expected to be completed within the next three months.

During an inspection on Monday, urban development minister P. Narayana and officials reviewed the master plan for the park’s redevelopment and directed that it be equipped with modern play equipment and adventure attractions to make it a major recreational destination for children and families.

The park, developed on the site of a former dumping yard, will be redesigned on the lines of the Rajamahendravaram Children’s Park under the Green Corporation initiative. Its maintenance is proposed to be entrusted to the local park association.

Officials also warned against encroachments on land earmarked for parks in residential layouts, stating that strict action would be taken against violators. They said compound walls had already been constructed at several locations to protect public land and urged citizens to report encroachments for immediate action.

The city administration said parks across Nellore would be modernised in a phased manner based on public requirements.

Speaking on the occasion, TD official spokesperson Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy said the coalition government had given priority to the development and protection of public parks. He claimed that corporation land worth nearly `350 crore had been protected from encroachment and expressed confidence that the Children’s Park would emerge as a modern recreational hub.

Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha, municipal commissioner Y.O. Nandan, Nuda chairman Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, deputy mayor P. Roop Kumar Yadav, representatives of the park association and local public representatives were present.
