Chennai Police Resolve Mystery Behind Murder of Jana Sena Leader’s Driver

The murdered person turned out to be Vinutha’s former driver and personal assistant Ch. Srinivasulu, known as Rayudu.

Nellore: The mystery behind the murder of a driver shook entire Srikalahasti town when Chennai police arrested Jana Sena's Srikalahasti in-charge Kota Vinutha and her husband Chandrababu, along with three others.

The murdered person turned out to be Vinutha’s former driver and personal assistant Ch. Srinivasulu, known as Rayudu.

Rayudu’s body had been discovered in the polluted Koovam River under the Seven Wells police station limits of Chennai city on July 8. Police identified the body with the help of tattoos on Rayudu’s hand bearing words "Jana Sena" and "Vinutha."

According to Chennai police commissioner A. Arun, CCTV footage showed the accused arriving in a car and dumping the body into the river. The victim had been murdered in Srikalahasti. The murder had been brutal, with strangulation marks and multiple injuries found on Rayudu’s body. The accused JS leader, along with her husband and confidantes, took the body to Chennai and dumped it in Koovam to mislead the investigation.

Rayudu’s family identified the body after police fished it out.

Police confirmed that Vinutha had been the mastermind, driven by suspicion that her personal and political information is being leaked by Rayudu to her rivals. Rayudu had worked closely with her for years. Vinutha recently removed him from service after a fallout. Just weeks later, Chennai police found Rayudu murdered.

Following their investigations, Chennai police have arrested Vinutha, her husband Chandrababu and their three close aides Gopi, Shiva Kumar and Sheik Thasan, who have confessed to the murder.

Following Vinutha’s arrest, Jana Sena has suspended her from the party. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu said the party condemns the crime and has decided to suspend Vinutha from the party on disciplinary grounds.

Srikalahasti TDP MLA Bojjala Sudheer Reddy expressed deep shock at the murder and offered condolences to Rayudu’s family. He vowed that justice will be done to the grieving family.

Rayudu’s body is expected to reach Srikalahasti by Saturday night following post-mortem.
