Chaturmasya Deeksha Sankalpam Begins in Tirumala
The Chaturmasya Deeksha, observed annually by the lineage of Sri Ramanujacharya, begins on Ashada Shuddha Ekadashi.

Tirupati: The traditional Chaturmasya Deeksha Sankalpam was commenced by Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala on Sunday, marking the beginning of the four-month spiritual observance in accordance with the Sri Vaishnava tradition.
The Chaturmasya Deeksha, observed annually by the lineage of Sri Ramanujacharya, begins on Ashada Shuddha Ekadashi. It is believed that Lord Maha Vishnu enters Yoga Nidra on this day and awakens on Karthika Shuddha Ekadashi. The observance is rooted in ancient practices carried out by ascetics and saints for centuries.
Ritual proceedings began at the Jeeyar Mutt in Tirumala, where Pedda Jeeyar Swamy performed Kalasha Sthapana, Kalasha Puja, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Medini Puja, and Mrutsangrahanam as per scriptural tradition. Special pujas were offered to the collected sacred earth, and the formal Sankalpam was undertaken to commence the Deeksha.
After completing the rituals, Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, accompanied by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and disciples, led a traditional procession from the Jeeyar Mutt near the Bedi Anjaneyaswamy temple. Following Tirumala customs, they visited Swami Pushkarini and Sri Varaha Swamy Balaalayam before proceeding to the main temple with mangala vadyams.
At the Mahadwaram of the Srivari temple, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, and other officials formally welcomed the Jeeyars. After offering prayers at the sanctum, Pedda Jeeyar Swamy was presented with the Melchat Vastra and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy with the Nuluchat Vastra by temple authorities.
Later, at the Jeeyar Mutt, both Jeeyars honoured the TTD EO and Additional EO with shawls, concluding the day’s observances.
