CM misusing power to shut his own cases: YSRTUC Chief

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Trade Union Congress state president Punuru Gautam Reddy launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of “misusing state machinery” to close corruption cases against himself. Calling Chandrababu “a leader terrified of legal scrutiny”, he alleged that the CM was threatening officials and pressuring them to shut down cases despite what he described as clear evidence of wrongdoing.

Gautam Reddy said the YSRC would wage a strong legal battle against what he termed as unlawful case closures, warning that no one in public life should be allowed to evade accountability. He accused Chandrababu Naidu of repeatedly committing financial offences and then manipulating systems to cover them up, even violating Supreme Court directions in the FiberNet case, which he claimed was being hurriedly closed through the CID.

He questioned why the CID abandoned a probe backed by substantial evidence, while cases reopened during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure were pursued aggressively. He alleged serious corruption in FiberNet, including violations to benefit Vemuri Hariprasad, a previously blacklisted individual, leading to irregularities worth `114 crore.

Gautam Reddy asserted that the YSRC would move the High Court and continue its legal fight, expressing confidence that the judiciary would not permit such illegal closures.
