Chandrababu Naidu Unveils NABARD Credit Plan For 2026–27

CM appeals banks and NABARD to support horticulture sector to reach state’s targets

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to banks and NABARD representatives to actively support the government’s push towards expanding the horticulture sector. He highlighted the state’s ambitious target of producing 450 lakh metric tonnes of horticulture output annually.

He stated that agriculture—particularly horticulture and aquaculture—plays a crucial role in the state’s economic growth and called upon financial institutions to extend full cooperation in achieving these targets.

Earlier the Chief Minister unveiled the State focus paper of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Credit Plan for the financial year 2026–27.

NABARD has projected a total credit outlay of Rs 5.11 lakh crore for 2026–27, marking a 20 percent increase from the previous year’s Rs 4.24 lakh crore. The plan allocates Rs 5,11,491 crore towards priority sectors, with a major focus on agriculture and allied activities.

Out of the total, Rs 2.55 lakh crore has been earmarked for agriculture. This includes Rs 1.66 lakh crore for crop loans, Rs 34,972 crore for animal husbandry, Rs 8,265 crore for farm mechanisation, Rs 21,098 crore for fisheries and Rs 11,961 crore for horticulture. Of the horticulture allocation, Rs 5,313 crore has been specifically designated for the Rayalaseema region and Prakasam district.

Additionally, Rs 9,957 crore has been allocated for agricultural infrastructure and Rs 12,687 crore for allied activities. The plan also provides Rs 1.64 lakh crore in credit support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

NABARD CGM MR Gopal, GM KVS Prasad and representatives from major banks participated in the meeting.
