Chandrababu, Lokesh Hijacked ZPTC By-Polls: Perni Nani

Non-local TD workers had been allowed to vote in the presence of district collector Cherukuri Sridhar: Former minister Perni Venkataramaiah

VIJAYAWADA: The YSRC has accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Education minister Nara Lokesh of hijacking the Pulivendula and Vontimitta ZPTC by-polls with the help of police.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, former minister Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani charged non-local TD workers had been allowed to vote in the presence of district collector Cherukuri Sridhar.

In this regard, he alleged that the State Election Commission has not released the CCTV footage and webcasting of the polling in the two ZPTCs.

The former minister said Chandrababu and his son Lokesh have made a mockery of democracy by misusing state institutions. He maintained that the anarchy of Telugu Desam had come into the open at Pulivendula, though the TD propaganda machinery has tried to cover it up with lies and deception.

Perni went on to allege that TD leaders from the neighbouring Jammalamadugu, Kamalapuram and Proddutur had rigged the elections. “The absence of women in the queues is a clear indication of the rigging,” he pointed out.

The former minister wondered what Chandrababu Naidu has tried to achieve by forcibly winning the ZPTC by-polls.
