Centre Advises Andhra Pradesh to Set Up Cancer Registry, Tumour Board
Gaur said the Centre had also agreed to extend financial support covering up to 80% of the cost of cancer medicines and diagnostic equipment under viability gap funding.

Vijayawada: The central government has advised Andhra Pradesh to establish a Cancer Registry and a Tumour Board, assuring full support for the initiative.
In a statement issued on Thursday, AP health secretary Saurabh Gaur said the Centre was impressed with the state’s recent measures on cancer prevention and control. The suggestion was made during discussions between AP officials and Union health authorities in New Delhi on strengthening non-communicable disease and cancer-care systems.
Gaur said the Centre had also agreed to extend financial support covering up to 80% of the cost of cancer medicines and diagnostic equipment under viability gap funding.
Additional incentives include assistance for constructing godowns to store medicines under the PPP model and supplying medicines and implants at a 50% subsidy to secondary hospitals— including CHCs, area hospitals, and district hospitals—under the AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants) scheme.
