CBI Report Clears Laddu Issue, TD Govt Playing Diversionary Politics: Bhumana

Questioning the credibility of the earlier probe, Bhumana said doubts arose as the SIT had been constituted by Naidu himself.

Tirupati: YSRC senior leader and former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Monday alleged that the TD-led government was indulging in diversionary politics after the CBI report on the Tirumala laddu prasadam issue and was targeting opposition leaders to deflect attention. Addressing the media, he said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was citing the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) report to support his claims, even though the NDDB had been engaged by TTD during the YSRC government’s tenure. He pointed out that the CBI Special Investigation Team had clearly concluded there was no possibility of animal fat being mixed in the ghee used for laddu preparation, based on scientific reports from the NDDB and the National Dairy Research Institute. Bhumana alleged that during Naidu’s earlier tenure, TTD had procured ghee from Bhole Baba Dairy (Harsh Fresh Dairy in 2018) at ₹291 per kg, a fact referred to in the CBI report. He said the YSRC government had later disqualified the supplier. Despite this, Naidu had made public allegations of adulterated ghee, with then TTD executive officer Syamala Rao backing those claims in September 2025, he added. Questioning the credibility of the earlier probe, Bhumana said doubts arose as the SIT had been constituted by Naidu himself. He noted that officers appointed under Supreme Court supervision had now categorically ruled out the presence of animal fat in the ghee. He further alleged that attacks on YSRC leaders had intensified after the CBI report, citing incidents at the residences of Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh, and accused the government of allowing anti-social elements to target opposition leaders.
