CBI Nabs CGST Superintendent in Vijayawada in Bribe Case

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused public servant red- handed while accepting Rs.50,000, as part of the demanded bribe amount

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the CGST Superintendent, Banothu Mangamma in Vijayawada in a bribery case.

The CBI registered the instant case on August 10, 2026 against the accused based on a complaint alleging that the accused public servant demanded a bribe of Rs.1.50 lakh from the complainant, who is running a private company, for not issuing a demand notice towards tax liability and for closing the matter.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused public servant red- handed while accepting Rs. 50,000, as part of the demanded bribe amount. The bribe amount of Rs. 50,000 was recovered during the trap proceedings.

Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused public servant at Vijayawada. The public servant was produced before the competent court at Vijayawada on Tuesday. Investigation in the case is on.
