Call For Cancellation Of MBBS Admissions Held In Violation Of Norms In AP
The Andhra Pradesh Medicos Parents Association has sought cancellation of 2026 MBBS admissions, alleging reserved-category students were denied Open Competition seats.
The Andhra Pradesh Medicos Parents Association has called for cancellation of the 2026 MBBS admissions conducted “in violation of rules” and demanded fresh admissions as per the norms of GO-151.
In a statement on Thursday, the association alleged that students belonging to reserved categories were disadvantaged in the medical admissions conducted by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. It said the Open Competition cut-off rank in the AU region was 71,547.
According to the association, 43 reserved-category students who secured ranks better than the Open Competition cut-off should have been allotted seats under the Open Competition category. Instead, they were allotted seats under their respective reserved categories, it said.
Similarly, the Open Competition cut-off rank in the SVU region was 94,966. The association said 27 reserved-category students who secured better ranks should have been allotted seats under the Open Competition category but were instead allotted seats under their respective reserved categories.
The association said the Supreme Court had repeatedly held that reserved-category candidates securing better marks than the Open Competition cut-off should be considered under the Open Competition category. It said that had GO 151 been implemented, every reserved-category candidate who secured a rank better than the Open Competition cut-off would have been accommodated under the Open Competition category.
The association alleged that GO 102 issued by the state government caused serious harm to reserved-category students and appeared to be in violation of principles laid down by the Supreme Court.
Association president Dr Ala Venkateswarlu said they had already informed government authorities that conducting medical admissions as per GO 102 would result in injustice to reserved-category candidates. Despite the warning, the government did not consider their suggestions, he said.
He called for withdrawal of GO 102 and changes to GO 151, provided such changes did not disadvantage students belonging to reserved categories.
