Cabinet Nod for Dagadarthi Airport Land Acquisition

Dagadarthi airport to come up under PPP mode, with tenders to be finalised soon

Nellore: The long-cherished aspiration of Nellore district to have an airport could be realised in the near future as the state government is fast-tracking the key processes and approvals.

The state cabinet on Monday approved the land acquisition proposal given by SPSR Nellore district collector Himanshu Shukla to the government.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Shukla said 882 acres of land have already been acquired and handed over to the airports development corporation. The government has also approved a compensation of Rs 13 lakh per acre for an additional 418 acres, located around 30km away from Nellore city.

The project is being taken up under the PPP mode and tenders have been floated to select the executing agency. “We are confident of completing the tender process in the next two to three months,” the collector said.

He extended special thanks to ministers Ponguru Narayana, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, MLC Beeda Ravichandra and Kavali MLA DV Krishna Reddy for their efforts at taking the project forward.

Once ready, the Dagadarthi airport would boost industrial growth, economic activity, investments and employment opportunities in the region apart from meeting the air travel requirements.
