Brothers-in-Law Drown in Godavari River
A teacher and a relative were swept away by undercurrents while bathing at Pushkar Ghat.

Rajamehendravaram: A wave of grief hit Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district on Monday after two brothers-in-law met with a tragic end, drowning in the Godavari River while out for a swim.
The deceased have been identified as Devara Srinivas, a government school teacher residing at Yadamma Dibba in Rajamahendravaram, and his brother-in-law, Eepu Nukaraju, a resident of Saipavaram in Anakapalli district.
According to the police, the duo had gone to the city's popular Pushkar Ghat on Monday afternoon to bathe and spend some leisure time by the riverbank. Unaware of the water's depth at that particular spot, they stepped deeper into the river and were swiftly swept away by the strong undercurrents.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local police and rescue teams rushed to the spot. Following a search operation, both bodies were retrieved from the river.
The tragedy has left the family completely devastated, especially given that Nukaraju had tied the knot just a few days ago. What was intended to be a relaxed family outing turned into a nightmare for the relatives, who gathered at the riverbank in deep mourning.
The police have registered a case regarding the incident. The bodies have been shifted to the local Government General Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and a further investigation is underway.
