Visakhapatnam A software engineer from Pirii village of Bobbili mandal of Vizianagaram district died while swimming in Meramec river in Missouri in US on Saturday.
Sources said Singireddy Sai Krishna along with five of his friends went to the riverside to celebrate his birthday. While swimming he was trapped in a whirlpool and drowned. His friends tried to help him but in vain. Fire service personnel recovered the body later.
Sai Krishna, after completing his engineering, recently went to the US to take up a job and has been living in Saint Louis, close to the Meramec river.
Villagers said Sai Krishan promised his parents that he would send a good amount of money to build a house and lead a comfortable life. His father S Srinivasa Rao eked out a living as an autorickshaw driver and mother Rama Devi is employed with the local PHC. Saikrishna was the youngest of the three children. His two elder sisters were married.
The news of his death devastated his parents, family members and the village. The villagers approached Bobbili MLA RVSKK Ranga Rao requesting him to make efforts to get the boy’s body from Missouri.
