Blood Donation Greatest Service to Humanity: Special Secretary Pradyumna

Vijayawada: Calling blood donation the “greatest among all donations", CM’s special secretary P.S. Pradyumna on Friday urged healthy individuals, particularly the youth, to voluntarily donate blood and help save precious lives.

Pradyumna participated in a blood donation camp organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, NTR district branch, in Vijayawada and personally donated blood to encourage public participation in humanitarian causes.

Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the service activities being undertaken by the Indian Red Cross Society NTR district committee and described it as an ideal organisation committed to continuous humanitarian service. He said the committee’s dedicated initiatives had inspired him to voluntarily come forward and donate blood.

“Only blood donors have the power to save human lives. Blood donation is the greatest donation as it gives patients a second chance at life,” he remarked. He appealed to every healthy person to make voluntary blood donation a social responsibility.

Indian Red Cross Society NTR district committee chairman Dr G. Samaram said blood donation plays a crucial role in saving lives during medical emergencies and surgeries. He stressed the need for greater youth participation in blood donation drives to prevent shortages in blood banks.

“The primary objective of the Red Cross is service to society. Regular blood donation can ensure timely help to patients in critical need,” he said.

Vice-chairman Dr Velaga Joshi said the Red Cross has been conducting frequent awareness and blood donation programmes to encourage voluntary participation among the public. He observed that Pradyumna personally donating blood would serve as an inspiration to youngsters and motivate more people to join such noble causes.

He appealed to citizens to donate blood at least once every year and contribute towards strengthening emergency healthcare support systems.
