Black Spots Rectification Measures on National Highways Completed in AP
Andhra Pradesh is not having the highest number of black spots on national highways: Union Minister

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Transport and Highways has taken up short-term and long-term rectification measures of black-spots in Andhra Pradesh.
This was stated by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari while replying to a question raised by Golla Baburao three days ago in Rajya Sabha on black spots on national highways in Andhra Pradesh.
Baburao sought to know whether it was a fact that, with 1,202 black Spots, Andhra Pradesh is having the highest number of black spots on National Highways (NHs) and what short-term and long-term rectification measures have been taken and completed on the black spots.
In reply, the Union Minister said Andhra Pradesh was not having the highest number of black spots on national highways and the Ministry has taken steps for immediate short-term measures on black spots like road markings, signages, crash barriers, road studs, delineators, closure of unauthorized median openings, traffic calming measures, etc.
Long-term measures like improvement of road geometrics, junction improvements, spot widening of carriageway, construction of underpasses or overpasses, etc. are also taken on such black spots as permanent rectification measures.
The rectification measures were taken up at a staggering 1,247 black spots in the State. The short-term measures were completed at 1,136 places while long-term measures were completed at 472 places. The national highway in NTR district stands first with 197 black spots followed by Visakhpatnam with 131 black spots and East Godavari with 109.
Anantapur and Nellore stand in fourth and fifth places, with 87 and 75 black spots, respectively.
