BJP MLA Slams Last-Mile Connectivity To Bogapuram Airport

VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam North MLA and BJP leader P. Vishnu Kumar Raju made a controversial remark at the district review committee meeting in Visakhapatnam, saying there is a lack of infrastructure to operate flights from Bhogapuram International Airport, which is likely to start operations in June this year.
“It's easier to go to Vijayawada on the Vande Bharat train than to travel from Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram airport and from there to Vijayawada,’’ the BJP MLA remarked in the meeting.
He sarcastically suggested that Vizag MP Bharat take the initiative to ensure that two additional Vande Bharat trains be introduced for this purpose.
Vishnu's suggestion that passengers will face difficulties if the Bhogapuram airport is opened before internal road construction is completed has become a topic of discussion.
Vishnu Kumar Raju also stated that he was against closing the existing Visakhapatnam airport. His strong argument that a public opinion survey must be conducted in this regard has sparked discussion among his fellow MLAs in the DRC meeting.
