Big Catch: International Drug Offender Nabbed in Anakapalli
During the operation, police seized 213.360kg of ganja, cash amounting to Rs.95,240, a car, a motorcycle, and four mobile phones.
Visakhapatnam: The Anakapalli district police have arrested an international drug offender and four of his associates and seized from them 213.360kg of ganja, likely worth Rs.1,06,68,000.
The raid was carried out on June 16 at Lankelapalem Junction on NH-16 by a woman sub-inspector, GSW Mahalakshmi of Parawada police station, acting on credible intelligence.
The case has been registered at Parawada PS.
The accused include Shaik Ajmal Khan (A1), a 30-year-old native of Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, who previously faced narcotics charges in Sri Lanka and was imprisoned there between April 2022 and October 2025.
His brother Shaik Abdul Rehman (A2), Tholam Durga Prasad (A3), Kolleji Lova Prasad (A4), and Chetti Ravikumar alias Nani (A5) were also taken into custody.
Police said Ajmal Khan illegally entered India despite seizure of his passport by the Sri Lankan authorities. He subsequently developed a network of associates to procure and transport commercial quantities of ganja from agency areas of AP to Chennai and other destinations.
As per the case, the investigation showed Abdul Rehman and Tholam Durga Prasad assisted in procuring and transporting the contraband, while the fourth accused provided his car for the operation. Ravikumar alias Nani, who had earlier accepted Rs.6 lakh for a supply but failed to deliver, assisted in transporting the seized ganja.
The police also identified absconding associates: Raja (A6) from Chennai, Shyam (A7) from Odisha, and four others -- Badri alias Bunny (A8), Mahadev alias Madhu (A9), Askar (A10), and Abid (A11), who allegedly played roles in the trafficking network.
Notably, Askar and Abid are accused of taking away 14kg of hashish oil through Ajmal Khan.

Inspector Mallikarjuna Rao of Parawada PS is leading the investigation, which has revealed Ajmal Khan’s links to organised criminal elements he came into contact with during his imprisonment in Sri Lanka.
The accused were produced before the XI-th additional metropolitan magistrate court in Anakapalli for judicial remand.
