Bhuvaneswari Inaugurates Mega Medical Camp in Rampachodavaram

Organised in collaboration with GSL and GSR Hospitals, the camp brought together specialist doctors to provide free medical tests and medicines to patients suffering from chronic illnesses in the agency area

Visakhapatnam: Nara Bhuvaneswari, Managing Trustee of the NTR Memorial Trust and wife of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, inaugurated a free mega medical camp at the Youth Training Centre near Rampachodavaram village on Sunday.

Organised in collaboration with GSL and GSR Hospitals, the camp brought together specialist doctors to provide free medical tests and medicines to patients suffering from chronic illnesses in the agency area.

Addressing the gathering, Bhuvaneswari said the NTR Memorial Trust was founded in 1997 by former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao with the objective of serving the poor. She said the Trust has so far conducted 16,360 medical camps, benefiting 22.6 lakh people at a cost of ₹22 crore. Under the Sanjeevani initiative, 2,180 camps have reached nearly four lakh beneficiaries. The Trust has also established four blood banks, collecting over five lakh units of blood for patients in need.

Rampachodavaram MLA and Legislative Council chairperson Miriyala Sirisha Devi highlighted the high prevalence of anaemia in tribal areas and urged the establishment of a blood bank in the region. She recalled welfare measures introduced by NTR, including orchards for tribal farmers, permanent housing and subsidised rice.

Former MLA Vanthala Rajeshwari referred to the Trust’s support to flood victims in the Godavari basin.

The camp was attended by officials, public representatives and donors, including Kandula Sai and his wife, who donated ₹1 lakh to the Trust. Bhuvaneswari inspected the medical services, interacted with patients, and thanked the doctors and donors for their support.

Polio drops were administered to children during the camp, while food and drinking water arrangements were made for attendees. Police personnel provided security throughout the programme.
