Bhogapuram Greenfield Airport to Boost North Andhra’s Growth: CM

Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu hailed the first flight landing at Bhogapuram as a historic milestone in AP’s aviation sector

VIJAYAWADA: Hailing the successful experimental landing of the first validation flight at the Bhogapuram Greenfield international airport, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday that this was a defining moment for the north Andhra region’s future.

In a statement, the Chief Minister greeted the people of north Andhra, saying the airport would be a major boost to the region’s connectivity and development. He thanked the central government and prime minister Narendra Modi for their support that helped expedite the construction over the past 18 months.

Recalling that the airport project was initiated during the NDA government’s tenure between 2014 and 2019, Naidu said the remaining about four per cent works would be completed by June. Thereafter, the airport would be opened to the public.

The Chief Minister said the Bhogapuram airport would enhance regional connectivity and act as a catalyst for growth. “With ports, airports, national highways and the IT sector attracting international investments, the development trajectory of north Andhra is set for a decisive transformation.”

He said the alliance government was committed to a balanced and inclusive development of all regions.

Education minister Nara Lokesh termed the validation flight a moment that had given “new wings” to north Andhra. The airport, he said, would serve as a strong foundation for economic growth and improved connectivity. Commercial operations could start from June.

Lokesh said, “Today is a landmark day for #AndhraPradesh. The successful validation flight at Bhogapuram marks a decisive step in boosting connectivity and unlocking Uttarandhra’s growth potential.”

Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy described the successful landing as a “game changer” for AP. Calling it a historic moment for the state’s aviation sector, he said the Bhogapuram airport would reshape the economic and developmental landscape of the north Andhra region.

Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu hailed the first flight landing at Bhogapuram as a historic milestone in AP’s aviation sector. “The main goal of the alliance government is Uttarandhra development,” he said, and hoped that investments, industries and employment opportunities would increase through Bhogapuram.
