Bhagavathi Seva Marks Sravana Sukravaram at Chenchu Lakshmi Ammavari Temple
Temple trustee Anam Venkataramana Reddy thanked Murali Nambudiri and Kesavan Nambudiri for performing the rituals
TIRUPATI: Bhagavathi Seva was performed at the Sri Chenchu Lakshmi Ammavari shrine at South Rajupalem in Nellore Rural on Friday on the occasion of Sravana Sukravaram.
The ritual was performed by P.G. Murali Nambudiri, chief priest of the Swamy Ayyappa Shrine at Somajiguda in Hyderabad and former Melsanthi of the Malikappuram temple near Sabarimala in Kerala. He was assisted by Kesavan Nambudiri.
Murali Nambudiri said Bhagavathi Seva was a traditional evening ritual from Kerala dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, worshipped in forms including Durga, Bhadrakali and Rajarajeshwari. He said the ritual was believed to invoke the divine mother for the removal of negative energies, mitigation of planetary influences and promotion of peace, prosperity and good health.
He said he would perform Ganapathi Homam at the temple on Saturday morning. According to him, the ritual dedicated to Lord Ganesha was traditionally performed before important religious ceremonies.
Temple trustee Anam Venkataramana Reddy thanked Murali Nambudiri and Kesavan Nambudiri for performing the rituals. He said several special religious programmes had been planned for devotees.
A Lakshminarasimha Swamy Homam will be performed at 9 am on Saturday, followed by Swamy Kalyanam at 11 am and Ponnu Seva at 7 pm.
