Both these stations are in Anantapur district. Stops of the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat had been sought at Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, and Hindupur. But they have not figured in the train’s present schedule.

The Railways has approved introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper service between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai. The train is likely to be launched this month. It is expected to run six days a week.

Railway sources said as per the proposed schedule, the train will leave Mumbai at 10:30 p.m. and reach Bengaluru at 2:50 p.m. the following day. In the reverse direction, it is proposed to depart Bengaluru City at 10 p.m. and reach Mumbai at 1:50 pm the next day. The journey is expected to last around 16 hours.

The Vande Bharat sleeper between Mumbai and Bengaluru will halt at Solapur, Pune, and Kalyan in Maharashtra; Raichur and Kalaburagi in Karnataka; and Anantapur and Guntakal in AP. The train will halt at the same stops in the return direction.

Anantapur MP Ambica Lakshmi Narayana has expressed gratitude to Railway minister Somanna for the halts in AP, saying this will benefit passengers from the Rayalaseema region travelling towards Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other major cities along the route.
