BC Leader Ends Fast Amid Health Concerns, Vows to Continue Agitation
Medical officials stated that his condition had worsened on the fourth day of the protest

VIJAYAWADA: The four-day “BC Dharma Deeksha” launched by Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana chief Bode Ramachandra Yadav ended on Tuesday after concerns were raised over his deteriorating health condition.
Yadav had been on an indefinite hunger strike since April 11 with five demands related to the rights of Backward Classes. The fast was called off following pressure from doctors, political leaders and representatives of BC and Kapu communities, who warned of serious health risks.
Medical officials stated that his condition had worsened on the fourth day of the protest, prompting intervention and appeals to discontinue the hunger strike.
Despite calling off the fast, Yadav said the protest was “not a conclusion but a pause” and announced that the movement would continue as a “dharma yuddha”.
The protest had led to demonstrations in several parts of the State, with police detaining supporters near the protest site amid tense situations.
Earlier, Yadav criticised the state government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, alleging non-implementation of constitutional provisions and unfulfilled assurances to BC communities. He also made allegations of corruption in Amaravati and Polavaram projects.
