Bapatla Police Nab Maharashtra Dacoity Gang

The arrests were made following a tip-off from Maharashtra Police that the gang

Vijayawada: Bapatla district police on Saturday evening arrested a five-member dacoity gang from Maharashtra at Bapatla and Chirala railway stations and recovered ₹6.72 lakh in cash along with weapons, acting within minutes of the arrival of the Krishna Express.

The arrests were made following a tip-off from Maharashtra Police that the gang, which had allegedly looted ₹8 lakh from a bank manager in Hingoli district, was fleeing to Tirupati.
Superintendent of police B. Uma Maheshwar said special teams were immediately deployed at strategic locations after receiving information that the suspects had entered Andhra Pradesh. DSP-level officers kept surveillance at both railway stations and conducted a coordinated inspection of the Krishna Express.
Police recovered ₹6,72,700 in cash, a knife and three mobile phones from the accused. The arrested gang members, along with the seized cash and materials, will be handed over to the Maharashtra Police for further investigation and prosecution.
Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta commended the Bapatla district police for their swift and professional execution of the operation.
