Bailable Warrants Issued Against 3 Ex-Andhra University Registrars In Contempt Case

High Court of Andhra Pradesh has issued bailable arrest warrants against three former registrars of Andhra University in connection with a contempt case of 2017

Visakhapatnam: High Court of Andhra Pradesh has issued bailable arrest warrants against three former registrars of Andhra University in connection with a contempt case of 2017.

Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad issued this order during a hearing on August 14 after hearing senior counsel D.V. Seetharamamurthy and advocate Ashwini Kumar. The warrants have been issued because the former AU registrars – Velagapudi Umamaheswara Rao, K. Niranjan and Vaddadi Krishnamohan, failed to appear before the court.

The case relates to non-compliance with earlier court directives. During the hearing, the High Court noted that Form-I notices had been served to all four respondents on August 2. While respondent No. 4, E.N. Dhanamjaya Rao, the current registrar of Andhra University, appeared in court, the other three respondents did not.

Justice Ramakrishna Prasad then directed that bailable warrants be issued against respondents 1 to 3. He instructed the court registrar (Judicial) to promptly communicate the order to the relevant Station House Officer (SHO) for enforcement of the order.

The case is scheduled to be heard again on August 21.
