VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu will participate in the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 13 to 18.

He will represent the Andhra Pradesh Legislature at the forum, where presiding officers and parliamentary representatives from Commonwealth countries will deliberate on parliamentary democracy, legislative functioning, good governance and strengthening democratic institutions.

The conference will provide an opportunity for the Speaker to exchange views and experiences with presiding officers and legislators from different Commonwealth jurisdictions and showcase the parliamentary traditions, practices and functioning of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature.

AP Legislature secretary-general Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara will also participate in the conference of secretaries, an integral part of the CPC. His participation will facilitate exchanges on legislative procedures, parliamentary administration and institutional practices.

According to the tour programme, Ayyanna Patrudu will leave Visakhapatnam on Thursday for Cape Town to attend the conference and associated parliamentary engagements. He is scheduled to return to India on September 20.

The participation of the Speaker and secretary-general will strengthen institutional and parliamentary linkages between the Andhra Pradesh Legislature and parliamentary institutions across the Commonwealth.

A final headline polish could also make it tighter for the print desk.
