Pattabhiram said logistical issues that had delayed transportation of waste to the Jindal plant were resolved following discussions with municipal administration minister Dr P. Narayana, MA&UD principal secretary S. Suresh Kumar and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra.

Vijayawada: A new waste compactor was inaugurated at Auto Nagar on Thursday as part of efforts to improve solid waste management and ensure scientific disposal of garbage at the Jindal Waste-to-Energy Plant.
Inaugurating the facility, Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram said the 42-cubic-metre compactor would be used to transport garbage generated in Auto Nagar, along with municipal waste from Vijayawada, to the Jindal plant for scientific processing.
He said the Swachh Andhra Corporation had provided 50 per cent of the funds required for the facility. The project was taken up following requests from Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao, youth leader Gadde Kranti Kumar, representatives of the Auto Nagar Association and industrial stakeholders to resolve the long-pending garbage disposal problem.
Pattabhiram said logistical issues that had delayed transportation of waste to the Jindal plant were resolved following discussions with municipal administration minister Dr P. Narayana, MA&UD principal secretary S. Suresh Kumar and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra.
He said about 10 to 12 tonnes of waste generated daily in Auto Nagar would now be transported to the Jindal plant. A meeting with Auto Nagar stakeholders will soon be held to prepare an action plan for the timely collection and disposal of waste to prevent future accumulation.
The chairman also said he had discussed the issue with APIIC Chairman Manthena Ramaraju, Managing Director A.S. Dinesh Kumar and Zonal Manager Kunche Babji. He added that the existing tractor station in the area would be shifted to a more suitable location.
