Aussie Consul General Calls for Deeper Engagement With Andhra Pradesh

The interaction assumed significance in the backdrop of the recent Australia visit of AP minister N. Lokesh which has added momentum to strengthening bilateral ties.

Vijayawada:Calling for stronger people-to-people and business ties, Australian Consul General in Chennai Silai Zaki on Tuesday underlined the vast scope for collaboration between Australia and Andhra Pradesh in innovation, sustainability, education and cultural exchange, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs and young leaders.

An interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry Andhra Pradesh and Young Indians (Yi) Amaravati Chapter in Vijayawada provided a platform for members — particularly women leaders and young entrepreneurs — to explore opportunities for engagement with Australian institutions and innovation ecosystems.

The interaction assumed significance in the backdrop of the recent Australia visit of AP minister N. Lokesh which has added momentum to strengthening bilateral ties.

Discussions focused on collaboration across key sectors such as health, green energy, clean technologies, education, tourism and sustainability. In tourism, participants explored ways to empower local artisans by creating national and international platforms, especially among Indian communities in Australia. Ideas such as cultural showcases, curated exhibitions and tourism-linked events to enhance the global visibility of Andhra Pradesh’s traditional arts, crafts and handloom heritage were deliberated upon.

Welcoming the gathering, Yi Amaravati Chapter chair Balakrishna Chittineni said the interaction had opened global perspectives for youth and women leaders.

Zaki, in her address, said Australia attached high value to deepening ties with Andhra Pradesh and saw strong potential for collaboration, including showcasing the State’s rich craftsmanship to global audiences.
