Assam Woman Fell Off Open Door Of Train Compartment And Died: Eyewitnesses
Family members of Himashree Boro, studying at a college in Guwahati of Assam, have alleged that it is a case of murder: Reports

VISAKHAPATNAM: Himashree Boro, 20, the Assam women found dead near railway tracks in Srikakulam district on Wednesday, had been standing at the door of the packed compartment of Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express on intervening night of Tuesday/Wednesday when she might have lost control and fell off the train between Dusi and Penubarti villages, police said.
According to Government Railway Police Inspector D. Dinabandhu, police have spoken to a family travelling to Dibrugarh in the same coach and another man travelling to Kharagpur in West Bengal.
They told police that at around 2:30 a.m., they woke up when they heard cries and commotion. Later, fellow passengers told them that a woman passenger standing at the door had fallen off the train.
Srikakulam district superintendent of police K.V. Maheshwara Reddy said Himashree’s head might have hit a blunt object and sustained severe head injury when she fell from the running train. The point where she fell had been 10 feet above the ground.
After falling from the train, her body rolled on to the ground and sustained lacerations.
“We have a few more issues to verify before concluding that Himashree’s death is an accident,’’ the SP stated. He said they conducted post mortem of the woman’s body and handed it over to her relatives and friends living in Visakhapatnam.
However, family members of Himashree Boro, studying at a college in Guwahati of Assam, have alleged that it is a case of murder. The 20-year-old woman, along with a few other students from Assam, had come to Vizag city for a dance competition on September 30.
After completion of the competition, she wanted to return to Assam ahead of others as she had to appear for an examination in Guwahati. Himashree Boro boarded a packed sleeper coach of the Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express train at Visakhapatnam railway station at around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday after missing the train in which she had a reservation.
