ASR District Shivers at 2.7°C

According to the Regional Agriculture and Research Center, G. Madugula recorded the season’s lowest at 2.7°C, followed by Munchingput 3.5°C.

Visakhapatnam: Cold conditions returned to the Araku-Sri Rangaraju (ASR) district on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping sharply over the last 24 hours.

According to the Regional Agriculture and Research Center, G. Madugula recorded the season’s lowest at 2.7°C, followed by Munchingput 3.5°C, Araku Valley 3.6°C, Paderu 4.4°C, and Peda Bayulu 5.8°C. Araku Valley had registered 12°C on Tuesday, showing a steep fall across the region.

Temperatures also fell by 1–2 degrees in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The cold spell impacted tourism, with Borra Caves recording only 1,400 visitors on Tuesday and around 2,000 on Wednesday, far below the expected 7,000 during the winter holidays, said manager K. Gowri Shankar.
