ASR District Gets 1,000 Cell Towers for Better Mobile, Internet Connectivity
Complete installation would help in achieving internet connectivity and mobile phone service in at least 80 percent of the district, he added.

Visakhapatnam: The Alluri Seetharamaraju district has installed 1,000 cell towers which were sanctioned under the Universal Service Obligation Fund of the department of telecommunications. Around 500 towers were sanctioned for Parvathipuram Manyanm district.
`Out of 1,593 towers, we have installed around 1,000 towers and the remaining would be completed in another three months,’’ said ASR district Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar.
Talking to this correspondent on Monday, the Collector said due to geographical reasons it was getting difficult for some areas for which roads and other infrastructure facilities would be added soon. A district level scrutiny committee is reviewing the progress every week, the Collector said.
Complete installation would help in achieving internet connectivity and mobile phone service in at least 80 percent of the district, he added.
This will help in providing quality and affordable mobile and digital services so that the members of the tribal community in these two districts will have equitable access to knowledge and information dissemination, leading to rapid socio-economic development with improved standard of living.
The towers are mostly coming up in Left Wing Extremism affected areas of the district, the Collector added.
The cell and internet services will be a game changer for the ASR district. The health services will be put on the track, particularly in remote villages where people will have access to ambulance and telemedicine services.
Similarly, ward secretariat staff would become more proactive in rendering services to every corner of the district, the Collector said, adding that education can be made online in places where teachers were reluctant to attend the schools due to inaccessible areas.
Among the others, smart internet connected CCTVs in strategic places would help the drug enforcement agencies to keep track on ganja smugglers who have been dodging while the forest department using the same cameras can monitor movement of wild animals.
As of now, the district has internet and cell services in 30 per cent of the geographical areas and gave tough time to health workers in management of Covid-19 vaccine and testing, health officials said.
