ASR District Adivasi March Seeking Road Connectivity; Complain Via PGRS

The collector ordered the Tribal Welfare executive engineer to prepare estimates for construction of roads to Nakkulu Mamidi, Amala Guda, and Murlava

Visakhapatnam: Tribal people of the Ananthagiri mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district, along with members of the Girijana Sangham, organised a march demanding road connectivity to villages Nakkulu Mamidi, Amala Guda, and Murlava.

The demonstrators, carrying placards and a traditional doli, started in a procession from the Girijan Sangham office and reached the office of the Mandal Parishad Development Officer. There, they submitted a formal complaint through the PGRS system demanding the road connectivity to the three villages. The march, led by ZPTC member D. Gangaraju, CPM leader K. Govinda Rao, former Tokuru sarpanch Mushya, and tribal fisherman Shubha Gopi, also met with district collector T. Nishanthi, seeking her intervention.

The collector ordered the Tribal Welfare executive engineer to prepare estimates for construction of roads to Nakkulu Mamidi, Amala Guda, and Murlava.

There are 480 families belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) living in Nakkulu Mamidi without any road access, making their daily life difficult. In Amala Guda and Murlava, villagers even performed voluntary labour to build a temporary road, so that a borewell-drilling rig could reach their settlements and drill for drinking water.

The procession of tribal people and their subsequent meeting with collector Nishanthi highlight the urgency of addressing long-standing issues. “For tribal communities of Ananthagiri mandal, road connectivity is not just a demand; it is a lifeline to essential services, livelihoods, and dignity. Our appeal to the administration reflects a broader struggle for justice and inclusion,” Gangaraju stated.
