Vijayawada: The Archaeological Survey of India has discovered an early inscription engraved on a boulder in the fields of C. Venkatasubha Reddy at Gotturu village in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, recently.
The inscription is written in the Prakrit language using Brahmi characters of the 3rd century CE. The text on the boulder reads ‘Magilana Mahakamika Putasa Bapananasa Chhayathambho’, referring to the memorial pillar (Chhayathambho) of Bapananasa, son of Mahakamika (Chief Labourer) Magilana.
