Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple Gears Up for Brahmotsavams Fest
Centuries-old shrine in Buchireddypalem gears up for ten-day festivities, culminating in the grand Ratham procession on April 12.
Nellore: Preparations are in full swing for the annual Brahmotsavam festival at the historic Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, nearly two-and- a half century old shrine, located at Buchireddypalem in SPSR Nellore district.
This year, the Brahmotsavams will begin on April 6 and it is coinciding with Sri Rama Navami. The festival will continue for ten days. During the festival, the celestial wedding of presiding deity (Sri Vari Kalyanam) will take place on April 11, Hanumantha Seva will be organized on April 9, and the grand Garuda Seva will take place on April 10. The chariot (Ratham) festival is slated for April 12. The Ratham festival is the major attraction, wherein scores of devotees will be pulling the temple chariot in a spectacular display of devotion.
At present, the temple management is run by the members of the extended families of Dodla, Bezawada, and Ponnaluru, with Dodla Muralikrishna Reddy serving as its founder trustee and executive authority. He oversees temple’s day-to-day affair.
