Areas In Kakinada, EG Districts Hit By Gusts, Lightning, Rain

Strong winds and lightning caused disruption in power supply

KAKINADA: After days of intense heat and dry winds, several parts of East Godavari and Kakinada districts experienced gusty winds, lightning and rain during the early hours of Friday. A hailstorm hit Repuru village in the Kakinada Rural mandal.

Strong winds and lightning caused disruption in power supply at several places after branches of trees, hoardings or flex boards fell on electrical lines.
AP TRANSCO superintendent engineer (SE) K. Tilak Kumar said heavy rains and strong winds affected power supply in several areas of East Godavari district. Electricity supply got disrupted from 80 feeders of 33 KV lines and 223 feeders of 11 KV lines.
Tilak Kumar said electricity department immediately deployed teams that restored power supply in most parts of the district by 2:30 am on Friday. Restoration works are still in progress in areas connected to the Malleswaram substation and power supply will be fully restored shortly.
