APTF Pitches Global Consulates Hub For Rushikonda Resort

APTF president K. Vijay Mohan and Secretary M.V. Pavan Kartheek submitted the proposal during the inauguration of Haritha Hotel in Visakhapatnam: Reports

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Forum (APTF) has presented its vision for the development of Rushikonda Resort to Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh.

APTF president K. Vijay Mohan and Secretary M.V. Pavan Kartheek submitted the proposal during the inauguration of Haritha Hotel in Visakhapatnam.

Located on a 10-acre site with views of the Bay of Bengal, the resort has the potential to emerge as a major landmark for Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh.

APTF suggested multiple options to boost tourism and the local economy. A key proposal is to develop the site as an International Consulates Hub, accommodating consulates of the USA, Singapore and the UAE in separate blocks, alongside a block for the Tourism Department and Economic Development Board (EDB).

They stressed that this could serve the state’s large diaspora, attract international visitors, and establish Visakhapatnam as a diplomatic centre in the absence of a US Embassy in nearby states.

Other proposals included converting the resort into a Modern Circuit House managed by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), a Government Office or Camp Office, a Luxury Tourism Resort, or an Event and Convention Centre to host meetings, conferences and exhibitions.

APTF emphasised that the International Consulates Hub would yield the most long-term benefits.

“Rushikonda Resort can reshape the global image of Visakhapatnam. With the right focus, it will attract both tourists and international institutions, helping to grow the state’s economy,” said APTF President Vijay Mohan.

Secretary M.V. Pavan Kartheek added: “Our suggestions align with the government’s goal of promoting tourism and economic growth. Under the Hon’ble Minister’s leadership, Rushikonda Resort can become a top asset for Andhra Pradesh.”
