APSPDCL To Roll Out ‘Currentolla Janabata’ To Fix Village Power Issues
The programme, titled ‘Currentolla Janabata’, will be formally inaugurated on Monday at Krishnapuram village in Pakala mandal of Tirupati district by energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar: Reports

TIRUPATI: The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is set to launch a new public outreach initiative aimed at resolving electricity-related issues at the village level. The programme, titled ‘Currentolla Janabata’, will be formally inaugurated on Monday at Krishnapuram village in Pakala mandal of Tirupati district by energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar.
APSPDCL chairman and managing director Shivashankar Loteti said the initiative is designed to bring electricity department officials and field staff closer to consumers to ensure quicker identification and resolution of power-related problems. He said the programme follows the recent launch of the ‘Dial Your APSPDCL CMD’ initiative and is part of efforts to strengthen direct engagement with consumers.
Under the ‘Currentolla Janabata’ programme, officials and staff of the electricity department, from field-level workers to senior officers, will visit selected villages every Tuesday and Friday. During these visits, they will interact directly with residents, inspect local power infrastructure and address issues on the spot. Inspections will cover 11 kV lines, low-tension lines and agricultural power lines.
Officials will also undertake preventive works such as trimming tree branches touching power lines, replacing weak or damaged electric poles and correcting sagging or unsafe wires to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply. The programme is also expected to help identify field-level issues and curb power theft.
Meanwhile, the minister will also inaugurate a newly constructed 33/11 kV substation at Mogarala village in Pakala mandal on Monday. Built by APSPDCL at a cost of ₹4.50 crore, the substation is expected to improve the quality and reliability of power supply to Mogarala and surrounding villages.
On the same day, APSPDCL will provide employment to 50 candidates under compassionate appointments, with appointment letters to be handed over by the energy minister at the APSPDCL corporate office in Tirupati.
